optical illusions are an illusion that is visually perceived images that differ from real objects. It is also known as visual illusions. It is something that deceives one’s eye and appears to be something else than it is. In such illusions one sees something that does not exist. Since brain defines reality based on familiar objects, it creates an image from an element. These designscan be of black and white. People love to see these images again and again as they are fun pictures.
Types of optical illusions:
Literal illusions: Literal optical illusions create images that are unlike the object that makes them. Here the brain depicts an image very different than the purpose of creation. By the closer look of the picture, one can get a different view of the image.
Physiological illusions: These optical illusions make use of bright lights or longer alternate patterns. They have an effect on your eyes and brain. In this one can see images that appear and disappear simultaneously on the larger picture. It can be due to physiological imbalances that alters perceptions.
Cognitive illusions: It occurs by the interactions and assumptions of the world. It may lead to unconscious inferences. Types of cognitive illusions:
Ambiguous illusions: It can show two separate images. The Necker cube is the best example of ambiguous illusions.
Distorting Illusion: It is characterized by distortions in shape, size or length. Its example is café wall illusion.
Paradox illusion: These are created by objects that are impossible. For example: Ascending and descending order of waterfalls or finding a right angle of a triangle.
Fictional illusion: These are perceptions of objects that are actually not present. These are also known as hallucinations.
