She has taught poetry in schools, has been a guest professor and lecturer at schools, universities, literary festivals and literary gatherings, has taught and read as a featured poet on several occasions at Women Writing the West conferences. and was a member of the group Poetrio. , with Lake County Poet Laureates Jim Lyle and James BlueWolf. She has written 18 books and edited over 30, bringing to print unusual topics such as the life of her mother who grew up in a Chinese laundry and her own experience of blindness and guide dog school. She is currently finishing her latest book. After 38 years of writing, she plans to rework and direct the musical she co-wrote with Dan Worley, and work on a new album of her original songs. After the exhausting work of writing a book, it will be like a vacation.
