Donate your favorite children’s books to those in need through Barnes & Noble in Kennewick

KENNEWICK, Washington – It’s that time of year for Barnes & Noble in the Kennewick Holiday Book Campaign to benefit the Children’s Reading Foundation of the Mid-Columbia (CRFMC). For KAPP-KVEW’s Reading for the Future segment, we spoke with Rob Whitney, a father of four who is the Store Manager for Barnes & Noble.

“We want people to be able to get away from it all and share the love of reading with their families. I know families who like to read a chapter a night through Harry Potter or Percy Jackson. These moments are a building of memories, and the children will remember them, and to this day I treasure these memories that I had with my parents and now with my family, ”said Whitney.

Whitney is on a mission to donate 2,500 pounds this year to CMFRC.

Until the end of December, you can donate a book to help children in our community learn essential reading skills. The next time you’re shopping at Barnes & Noble in Kennewick grab your favorite children’s book and when you’re ready to pay let your cashier know you want to donate. Books for sale to donate start at around $ 4, Whitney said.

You can also help CMFRC by stopping by Barnes & Noble in Kennewick November 24-30, and a percentage of sales from their annual holiday book drive will go to the foundation.
