Jeffrey Archer, Arundhati Roy and Wendy Doniger to attend Kerala Literature Festival 2022

Best-selling author Jeffrey Archer, Booker-Prize-winning novelist Arundhati Roy, American writer-filmmaker Chris Kraus and acclaimed American indologue Wendy Doniger are among 400 speakers attending the sixth Kerala Literature festival (KLF) , which will begin on Jan. 20, organizers announced Thursday.

To be held on the beaches of Kozhikode, the four-day literary extravaganza, billed as the ‘second largest festival’ of its kind in Asia, aims to map literature through discussions on several aspects that shape human consciousness, including art, cinema, the environment, the pandemic and its impacts, politics, history and economy.

“While film buffs are plentiful at the Kerala International Film Festival (IFFK) and art lovers await the Kochi Muziris Biennale, KLF combines these two worlds by seamlessly covering a wide range of interests. Evening fireside chats, music concerts, classical, theater and performing artists will be the entertainment quotient at KLF 2022, ”organizers said in a statement.

“This year, the organizers will present a gastronomic exuberance organized with food trucks and ethnic cuisines,” he added.

Hosting over 200 sessions and writers, experts and artists from over a dozen countries around the world – except India – this year’s eclectic lineup would also include names like Shashi Tharoor, Ada Yonath, Abhijit Banerjee, Remo Fernandes, Sagarika Ghose, Manu S Pillai, Devdutt Pattanaik and Sudhir Kakar.

“It is a privilege to be back at KLF and remember why it is one of the best literature festivals in India. The list of speakers is not only extremely impressive, but the time and space allocated to writers in all languages ​​and on such diverse topics makes participation a very enriching experience, ”said author-historian Manu S Pillai. .

Organized by the DC Kizhakemuri Foundation and supported by the Government of Kerala and the Kerala Tourism Board, the director of KLF 20222 is renowned poet, critic and writer K Satchidanandan.

It will end on January 23, 2022.
