Mike Flanagan, the creative mind behind The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor, reveals what is needed for a third season to happen.
The Haunting of Hill House Creator Mike Flanagan Reveals Requirements For Season 3. Flanagan, Along With Production Partner Trevor Macy, Are Responsible For Creating Netflix’s Critically Acclaimed Series, As Well As For Following It Up , The Haunting of Bly’s Mansion. Both shows revolve around effective ghost stories built on the idea of human trauma and regret. The haunting the series is praised for its acting, staging, production values, and overall storytelling.
Based on the eponymous 1959 novel by Shirley Jackson, The Haunting of Hill House alternates between two timelines, which follow five siblings and their experiences at Hill House that still haunt them as adults. Flanagan’s next series, The Haunting of Bly’s Mansion, is also based on a piece of literature, this one being an adaptation of Henry James’ short story, The turn of the screw. Like its predecessor, Manor of Bly tells a non-linear tale that chronicles the events of an American au pair of two children and their experiences inside a haunted mansion. Sharing similar themes and material sources, it seems Flanagan has described what a third season would require.
Talk to GE, Flanagan reveals that for season 3 of The haunting series to go, he and Macy would need to find the right piece of literature on which to base themselves. Although nothing is unfortunately currently in the works, Flanagan goes on to explain that a third season is possible if this one condition is met. See Flanagan’s quote below:
“If the stars align in such a way that we decide to return to the Haunted world, it would have to be so much on this track that we set up, ”said Flanagan. “It should be with the right piece of IP, it should be with the right ghost-centric story, and it should really stick with it.” Bly and Hill House. “
Flanagan expresses that any piece of literature would not do, as it should both be the right story and be the right choice for Manor of Bly and Hill House. As mentioned earlier, both Manor of Bly and Hill House share similar themes centered on ghosts materializing as a result of human trauma and regret. For Flanagan to consider making a third season in the series, he would have to find the right literary work that deals with those same ideas.
While fans may feel disheartened by the news that a third season of The haunting the series is not currently in the works, they can rest a bit more knowing that Flanagan and his team are keeping their options open. However, finding the right piece of literature to base the next season on might not be that simple. Until this book is found, fans can look forward to Flanagan’s new supernatural horror Netflix series, Midnight Mass, which will debut worldwide on September 24.
